Short Rides – 2 Hour and 1/2 Day

NOTE: Note all rides are subject to change, due to weather, tracks being closed or open, also to protect the safety of our riders and horses. You cn do these rides if you have never ridden before or are a beginner, We do however ride in bush land terrain, some parts can be steep, and there is limited cantering or Trotting oportunities.

Merrijig - 2 Hour ride

Departing from our picturesque, Merrijig property where McCormack's have farmed for many generations. We ride up into the buttercup valley where you may well recognize the view from the Man from snowy river films, as they were filmed here in the area. Traversing the ridges under Mt. Buller. Timbertop, Mt. No 3 and Mt Stirling, we venture deeper into the natural bush and may see the native wildlife as they go about their movements during the day. Warming into the saddle you may like to pick the pace up a little and there are plenty of changes to trot and canter along the bush tracks. We cross some of the many creeks and depending on the route taken on the ride we may ford the Delatite River as we turn and head for home.

Merrijig Half Day (just over 3 hours ride)

This ride is similar to the 2 hour ride except you will explore the valley further to take in the dramatic dead wood city famous from the Man From Snowy River 2 film and we will cross higher up the valley and stop for a short break to rest the horses and take in some of the best views from the area. Bruce can recount to you stories of the times had as he was one of the crack riders in both of the movies.
