ANZAC Day weekend 3 day ride

3 days 2 nights.

Day 1

Re-live the movies and ride to Craig's hut, the set where The Man from Snowy River was filmed.

The day starts from King saddle on Mt. Stirling itself, where you will be matched with your horse, then we make our way through the magnificent woolybutt forest and gnarled snow gums taking in the spectacular 360 degree views from the summit of Mt. Stirling, as your horse picks his way along old cattle tracks you head towards the famous Craig’s Hut, you have the chance to chat to Bruce about his time spent as one of the crack riders in the Man From Snowy River movies. He can point out along the way different locations used in the films. When you finally arrive at Craig’s hut you can take in the stunning views with the sleeping Indian in the background Mt.Cobbler. Enjoy a chance to look around the hut and get a photo on your horse with Craig’s hut in the background. Then head over where the support team have a scrumptious lunch waiting for you to enjoy.

After lunch we descend into the King Valley making our way along the King River through the towering white gums and ferny creek valley to our mustering hut, enjoy a camp oven roast then relax around the campfire.

Day 2

Begins with a hearty breakfast, after which we saddle up and make our way up through tree ferned valley to the top of Mt. No 3 and take in the beautiful views of the Delatite valley from the lookout before sitting down to lunch under the snow gums. We once again mount our horses, then make our way down Burnt Hut Spur through the woolly butt forest then to our base camp in the Buttercup Valley.

Day 3

After a leisurely breakfast we saddle up our trusty steeds, and then make our way through the bush to the banks of the Delatite River, where we can have a relaxing lunch. Then make our way back home to Merrijig along the way taking in the views of Mt. Timbertop and the Delatite valley, as we traverse the ridges then make our way across Buttercup Creek.

Labour Day Rodeo Ride

3 days 2 nights.

Day 1

Departing from picturesque Merrijig property where the McCormack's have farmed for many generations, once you have been matched up with your horse for the trip, we ride up into the Buttercup Valley where you may well recognise the views from the Man from Snowy River films which were filmed in the area. Bruce can recount to you stories of the times had as he was one of the crack riders in both of the movies.
As we make our way through the peppermint gums and candle bark forest down to Buttercup Creek you may observe kangaroos resting in the shade or even spot a fellow deer. follow the ridges looking down into the Delatite Valley, and then make our way up to Bald Hill where we will be met with a scrumptious lunch then mount up, once again warming into the saddle you may like to pick the pace up a little and there are plenty of chances to trot and canter along as we make our way along the jeep track then head down into to our Base hut at Buttercup to spend the night.

You will be transported by bus back for the Merrijig Rodeo, your ticket in included in your ride costs, but you will need to buy your own dinner and Drinks at the rodeo. We will supply chairs in an area at the Rodeo for you to sit back and enjoy the night. We return after the event has finished (aprox.10pm) to buttercup for the night.

Day 2

3 Day River Valley Ride

3 Days 2 nights

Day 1

Meeting at Merrijig we are then transported by vehicle to Mirrimbah Park once a logging town at the base of Mt. Buller. Where you will be matched with your horse, we then make our way along the banks of the Delatite River and through the many river crossings with the magnificent towering gums and tree ferns. We meet for lunch at the top of the river Spur trail. After a scrumptious lunch we make our way through the gnarled snow gums to the summit of Mt. Stirling, enjoy the magnificent 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains. Then ride down through woolybutt forest and the ever changing flora to the Purcell's mustering hut, Razorback hut where we set up camp for the night relaxing around the campfire under the stars.

Day 2

Cattle droving & Salting Trip 3 Day

3 days, 2 nights - LIMITED NUMBERS Experience riders only

If you have ever dreamed of experiencing the true bush life, then make sure you get in early and book a place on our cattle droving/salting trips. Never before offered to the public, these three day adventures will leave from upper Merrijig and see us travel up to Mt No. 3 searching for our Angus herd that spend four months of the summer grazing in the High Country. As Featured in Outback Magazine.

We Camp at our mustering hut, with traditional camp oven meals. We will be delivering salt licks to the mobs and pushing them back up towards the mountain flats on day two, before winding down to the head of the King Valley where we stay the night at the King Hut by the banks of the King River.

Numbers are strictly limited and we prefer no beginner riders, as you will have to be a capable rider to help muster the cattle. So get in quick.
