Merrijig day ride, winter or summer
Departing from picturesque Merrijig property where the McCormack's have farmed for many generations, we ride up into the Buttercup Valley where you may well recognise the views from the Man from Snowy River films which were filmed in the area. Bruce can recount to you stories of the times had as he was one of the crack riders in both of the movies.
As we make our way through the peppermint gums and candle bark forest down to Buttercup Creek you may observe kangaroos resting in the shade or even spot a fellow deer. Crossings then follow the ridges looking down into the Delatite Valley, warming into the saddle you may like to pick the pace up a little and there are plenty of chances to trot and canter along as we make our way to our base hut at Buttercup, where we will be met with a scrumptious lunch, after taking in the beautiful views of our little valley.
We make our way back along the bush tracks through the eucalypt forest past the old graveyard, and ruins of the old original homestead from generations before.
